Roulette StrategiesRoulette is a classic game of chance popular in Las Vegas and other casinos around the world. Roulette strategies are not entirely effective, as the odds in roulette are that the house will win. The game of roulette began in France, and writing about the roulette wheel in Paris dates back to 1796. Originally, the game featured two zeroes, but the single zero variation was popularized in the late 19th century in Europe and, particularly, in the gambling haven of Monte Carlo. In America, the double zero form of roulette is almost always played, and the table features numbers 1-36 as well. There are a variety of bets placed in roulette. Roulette strategies include placing bets on a single number (0, 00, or numbers 1-36), between two adjacent numbers (called a split), and bets on lines of numbers (three or six numbers at a time). Alternatively, bets can be placed on the color of the number being either red or black. Finally, bets can be made on whether the winning number will be odd or even. Though the odds always favor the house in each spin of roulette, certain roulette strategies may be fun to try out. For instance, a strategy popularized by Andres Martinez, a journalist and editor, separates betting money into 35 bets. All of these bets are placed on the same number for 35 consecutive spins. Since the payout of most roulette tables for a winning bet on a single number is 35:1, one win with this strategy will recoup any money spent and most likely provide extra money to play with. However, the odds of a single number winning in 35 consecutive spins is just under 61%, so this strategy, like any other roulette strategy, does not guarantee success. Overall, roulette is a game of chance in which you should spend your money wisely and in moderation. If you are looking for a game that combines the elements of chance found in roulette with skill, blackjack is the game for you.
