At 73 years old, I've made an amazing discovery.I've found out that I've become a "Geek". And you know what else? I suspect a great many of all you other "old farts" out there have also joined the crowd.
Good day to all of you gamblers in whatever time zone you may be in. Let's take a little respite from the anxiety of the cards and dice for a little while today. And, no thinking about Monday night Football till "break time", Monday morning.
It started with the cell phone, which we all thought would be a great idea to carry in case of an emergency while in our cars, or when driving at night. This was an especially good device for women who work nights. Because of some of the great deals, free weekends, free nights, some people are starting to discover that the cell phone can replace one's land line home phone. Then along came the camera phone, and we "old geezers" discovered we could get those candid shots of the grandchildren with sauce all over their face. Next came email over the phone and games (I have a chess program on my phone). The technology just goes on and on. We are now starting to carry digital cameras around with us. They are small and unobtrusive enough to hang on a strap from our shoulders. To myself, outside of a computer, this is probably one of the great advances in technology. No more film. No trips to drop off and pickup film. I know that you younger ladies have no problems; But for you older folks who feel a little intimidated, there is no need to feel this way. Go to: http://www.photographyblogger.com/blog/2009/12/01/obtaining-correct-exposure-.html This site will refresh your minds as to the basics of getting the optimum exposure on your camera. For those of you who are new to photography, a few short sentences in simple language will get you started. This happens to be one of the best sites you can find on the net pertaining to digital photography. As you all have discovered, one of the beauties of the digital cameras is that you can immediately see what you have shot by looking in the viewing area on the rear of the camera. This is my favorite feature. On this site there is a link concerning this feature as well as other links to pertinent parts of the camera. The writer on this site speaks to you in simple, plain, everyday language, so as there is no need to feel intimidated. Bottom line is, I urge all of you "newbies" to the technology to visit this site. And to you "old geezers", like me, this site will bring you up to speed, so that you know as much as those pesky grandchildren of yours. Make the visit!
Monday, we will be back, hopefully to talk about our weekend winners. Until then; Don't forget to make a couple of "hard way" bets for the dealers.
