Is it only me who thinks that it is strange for the Indy Colts to open the week as a 1 point underdog? How is it that a 9 and 0 team is a dog to a 5 and 4 team? The answer is simple. The odds makers are up to their usual treachery. They're trying to make you think that they know something you don't. Their thinking is that the Colts have reached their magic number at 9 wins, and the percentage says that they are due to lose their first one of the season. Also, since they are on the road, playing a team with a reputation for defense; now is the time.
Good day to all you gambling aficionado's, in whatever time zone you may be in. May you all wreak bloody havoc with your Bookmakers (legitimate or otherwise) this weekend.
Bah, humbug, to the odds makers. I say they are blowing smoke out their rear ends. We're betting our lungs on the Colts. If last week didn't show anyone what Ol' Peyton can do, then this week he should surely give lessons in how to pick a defense apart. We will bet half of our bankroll on the Colts. Speaking of which; Last week we win with the Pats and our + 2 1/2 point spread. If you remember, we said that the + 2 1/2 points were a great value. Well, that value certainly "saved our bacon". The Lions game came out a "push" since we hit the 17 point spread right on the number. Our record is now 11 wins, 7 losses, 2 ties. Our bankroll is now $158.
This will be our only Sunday game. It is the key. Bet the $77 to win $70. There is now one problem though; The line has shifted quite a bit since the beginning of the week. A lot of people must have been having the same thoughts as your humble writer here, for the line has moved so much that the Colts are now a 1 1/2 point favorite. Quite a move; But, we still make the bet. If we win Sunday's wager, AND ONLY IF WE WIN, then we make a small bet on Monday night's game. Let's risk $22 to win $20 with the Titans + 5 points. But remember, only make this wager if we win Sunday. If we lose Sunday, then we will just sit back and "lick our wounds" until next week.
Let's all of us hope that we will be telling the betting clerk that we'll be back when we need more money, as we collect our winnings!
As all of you who read my little opus here know; I am a big fan of the lesser known sports. You know, the ones that the average Joe or Jane participate in, and never get any recognition. Well next week, we will talk about one of our own. A lady by the name of Donna I. She deals in a major Casino, but in her off hours she manages to carry a better than 200 average in league Bowling. Come back and read us in a couple of days, as we profile her and her championship mother.
