Most all of you know that yours truly deals cards and dice for a living. And, in my daily travels through the Casino, I am frequently asked how one goes about getting a dealers job. If you're really seriously interested, then keep reading.

Most everyone thinks that dealing in a Casino is a job that will make you rich. The truth of the matter is that, this will only happen to, maybe, five per cent of those plying this trade. Those five per cent are in the few top echelon hotels such as Wynn, Venetian, or Bellagio. Although it only gives you the "bare bones" in the first paragraph, the last two paragraphs are the meat, especially when talking about Dealer School. Especially, read the last paragraph, and take it to heart. If you start to master your skills in the school, you will land a job as an "on call" in a "break-in" house. All of these so called "break-in" houses are small Casinos; For example, Jokers Wild, El Dorado, or Railroad Pass. Here is where you have to hone your skills, and develop technique. If you are lucky and get a good floor supervisor (pit boss), your skills will develop very quickly. In the meantime don't expect to make any kind of significant money. Most of these guys are working two jobs to make ends meet. As with all dealing jobs, you are working for minimum wage and must rely on tips for the balance of your salary. Most "locals" do not tip dealers! They are all under the false impression that we're getting rich. If you are a dice dealer and develop your hands and learn to follow all the correct procedures, then you will move up the ladder fairly quickly. Good dice dealers are most always in demand and can work anywhere in the world, even on cruise ships. If you are a young man with a limited education, then this may be the job for you.
