Basics of Roulette

It is easy to get hooked on. Roulette is a very easy game to play, while it may appear to be complicated. The roulette wheel has 38 for the ball to land in. They are numbered 1 through 36 with two remaining slots, 0 and 00.

There are one to six players at the table and you can bet on any number, red or black, and or odd or even. A player purchases roulette chips in the value of 25 cents, 50 cents, $1, $2 or by betting with regular casino chips in the amount of $5, $25 and $100 chips. When the dealer spins the wheel in one direction, the game has started. He then rolls a small ball in the opposite direction along the inner edge. After a wave of his hand over the table, no more bets can be placed. The ball will soon roll into one of the slots and the number of that slot is the winner. The elongated table at the roulette table is covered in felt with the numbers matching the wheel; this is where your bets are placed. There are many types of bets and they all pay differently. For instance, straight up is a one number bet, and dozen, will pay on any number in that dozen of numbers.

A croupier representing the casino, also known as the dealer, spins the wheel, calls out the winning number and handles all payouts and wagers. He also places a plastic marker on the winning number. You must wait until he removes the marker before picking up your winnings or placing another bet. Roulette is a slower paced games and requires a little patience.
