The first table you usually see when you walk into a pit is the craps table. When you see the table with all of its boxes and numbers, it can be intimidating. It is also the fastest moving game in the world of gambling. You can tell if the game is going well by all the excitement of the people yelling. If it is rolling craps, then the table is quiet.
The table is a double layout with two casino employees working from each side. One of the employees takes the bets, while the other yells out the results of each throw. So when you step up to the table, you only have to worry about the layout on one side.
What you are betting in craps the person who is rolling the dice will get the number he needs in order to win. You want the person to get his number and win; the house is wanting the opposite. The first roll is known as the come out roll. This roll sets the point for the shooter. If he or she rolls a 7 then that is called a natural, and the player automatically wins. If he or she rolls a 2, 3 or 12, after the come out roll, he or she has rolled craps and automatically loses. Player then thrown the dice again, in order to try and establish a point.
For you to place a bet, put your chip down on the table. You can play the field, which means that if the player rolls any one of the field numbers you win. Or, you can bet that he will roll a certain number. If the player does, you win; if he or she doesn't, you lose. You can also place more than one bet at a time.
